Eric Alpenfels, PGA Master Professional
Eric is the Director of the Pinehurst Golf Academy and Golf Instruction at Pinehurst (N.C.) Resort, has been part of the Pinehurst family since 1985. The 1995 and 2012 Carolinas PGA Teacher of the Year, Alpenfels’ expertise has earned him recognition from GOLF Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Teachers in America,” by Golf Digest as one of “America’s 50 Greatest Teachers,” and by U.S. Kids Golf as one of the “Top 50 Teachers for Kids.” His activities beyond the fairways of Pinehurst are extensive and include speaking engagements, over 80 contributions to industry publications and participation as an Adjunct Faculty member for the PGA of America Education Department. Additional awards include the 2008 GOLF Magazine’s “Innovators of the Year” and the 2008 “Outstanding Research Award” (shared with research partner Dr. Bob Christina) from the World Scientific Congress of Golf. In 2006, GOLF Magazine was awarded the “National Magazine Award” presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors based on Eric’s research with Dr. Christina. In 2021, a summary of their research was published in Evidence Based Golf. The Pinehurst Golf Academy continues to conduct research to pioneer the development of new practice techniques and innovative drills.
